Very bright headlight

I recently needed a new brighter head light, both for my fishing, but also for walking in and out of the chosen location. I bought a lamp fitted with a Cree T6 LED from ebay and used it on Saturday night sea fishing. This lamp has a full output of 1800 Lumens which has a 100 metre beam range, I have to say on full power it seems to go further. There are 3 settings, by pushing the button once, it's on full power, on a second push it drops down to a less intense beam ideal for unhooking etc and is supposed to last for 20 hours from the rechargeable battery pack. The last push puts it on to a strobe setting, don't know why. Sits comfortable on the head and seems to be good value, I will give a long term evaluation after some more use.

If one of these, t6 max lumens are 800ish, only thing happened to mine was accidental full power constant discharge when in car in jacket burnt out led, sourced a replacement for a couple of quid.

As you say, very handy but bright light.

Stonepark I got that of ebay last week for work, great bot of kit

Seems there's several models of the T6, that is not the same as mine, but similar, have to say it was the brightest on the beach on full power, ideal for retreiving fish from the surfs edge(not that I did much of that last Saturday).

I chose to get one from a guy in Cleveland, paid more, but some of the feedback from some of the Chinese sellers worried me, some people got empty boxes etc. I know paypal re-imburse you, I just chose not to deal with them.

Burnie, do you have a link to the one you bought, or the seller? Sounds great! And if more than the price stonepark quoted, can you tell us how much? I've been mulling over a Cree-based LED headtorch for some time. Fed up with my Petzl Tikka which is the proverbial damp squib. As was discussed in another thread which I didn't get around to contributing to, the old Petzl zoom head-torches were fantastic, the only limiting factor being the specialist 9V battery packs and the need to disconnect the terminals in order to preserve the battery life on extended trips. Tbh, if they were still widely available and I could repair my old zoom i'd still use them.

I got mine from a UK seller phcmall for£ 15.45. Came with mains and car charger. As said quality bit kit for the money, delivery was 3 days  :8)

This is the guy I used, not the cheapest, but I got what I wanted quickly and it seems to be top quality, time will tell of course.

Above is the one I actually bought and had no problems, the other listed above appears to be a sister company and 10p cheaper.

reason for the above is the fact it takes standard AA batteries and I don't have to mess about with potentially dodgy 18650 lithiums.

Thanks for the links chaps. It appears the more expensive one runs on two AA's and the one you and Stonepark got takes three. It doesn't mention a charger for that one, while the more expensive one (or perhaps "less cheap" is more apt) does? Anyway, given the feedback on these i'm now going to take the plunge once i've decided which one to plump for. Ta
