Nothing new here, as a few others have said were/are in use on the Clyde. Do not know about minnows as I preferred a trap  but in my youth I used them for collecting stone fly creepers (Gadger) & the Beardie As others have pointed out I too made mine from a piece kitchen curtain/ muslin cloth. My mother sewed in some elasticated band & I simply stretched it over my landing net. So as you can see steve07 not a lot is "new" but good luck with the sales.
