there seem to be a number of ways of doing this (including using stiff mono rather than wire). i've experimented a bit but haven't come across anything satisfactory. recently i've been using a rio toothy critter 7' titanium leader straight to the fly line. it has a clip link at the end but the turnover is pretty poor. the best leader set-up i've come across is this: http://www.flyforums.co.uk/fly-fishing-other-species/109262-sbs-pike-fly-leader.html

the latest idea i've heard about is using a gemini "genie" clip for attaching the fly. if i use this idea, i'll probably try using a drennan slim crimp to attach it to the wire

has anyone else used these? what have you tried that's worked?

I use proleader - kevlar I think - it is pretty much the same as using nylon - knots easily, is flexible etc etc  Not cheap though
