It?s quick and easy to tie. Realistic it certainly isn?t, but it has caught me bucket loads of trout and grayling ? enough said!

Instructions assume right-handed tyers

HOOK ? Kamasan B160 #14
?THREAD? ? Fine Copper Wire
TAIL ? Pheasant Tail
BODY ? Pheasant Tail
BEAD ? 2mm Gold Bead

STEP 1
Slide the bead onto the hook and mount the hook in the vice. Then apply a spot of Superglue and attach the ?thread?

STEP 2
Attach the Pheasant tail fibres for the tail by holding them at an angle across the hook as shown

Then simply wrap over them towards the hook bend. Don?t worry too much about them being on top of and inline with the shank at this point.

To align them simply hold them up and in position, then continue binding them down.

Finishing at this point.

STEP 3
Grip the butts and fold them back so that they face over the hook bend as shown and tie down in this position.

STEP 4
Make one more turn of the wire to hold them securely in position. Then take the wire and the Herls and twist together into a rope.

STEP 5
Wrap the rope to form the body, finishing tight behind the gold bead.

STEP 6
Separate the wire from the Herl and use the wire to tie off the Herl.

STEP 7

Trim the waste butts, then make a whipfinish and add a spot of Superglue to the wire for the finished fly.

You don't "pinch and loop" it, you just hold it by the tips across the shank and make a wrap with the wire. Doesn't really mater what it looks like at this point. Once it is secured simply grip the tail and hold it above and in line with the hook shank. Then, keeping hold of the tips, bind the wire down to the bend, tying the tail down as you go.
