My new 2 piece 10ft rod is a tad big for my boot.
Just wondering if you guys have any inventive ways of moving you're rods around.
Mag mounts seem to be so expensive! Unless anyone's knows of a cheaper alternative?

I still use my coarse fishermans rod holdall, mine is a Kevin Nash one that takes the rods with reels attached, used in Lewis/Harris last week.

Ah some of the rivers i fish mean we take the rods from beat to beat, so dismantling them is a bit of a pain! And hanging them out the window scratches the hell out of it!

What's wrong with just separating the two pieces and folding the top piece down along side the bottom and wind in the slack with the tail fly hooked into the fly keeper, bottom ring or reel. My three piece travels in my boot inside a black pvc tube like that 365 days a year and when I use it I just fit the rod together and start fishing :) For a two piece rod I used to run it along the inside of the doors from the foot well to the back parcel shelf using the same method.
Don't worry, be happy.

Carried it in full, then carry it out empty.

If I take my car and there's more than 3 people I can't fold down a seat to put it in the boot but I'll just keep it folded and invert wren the passengers!

a mate of mine made his own mag mount from a glass lifter: http://www.dortechdirect.co.uk/window-installer-tools/675088_suction_pad_dual.html

bit of a faff, but cheap and effective
