Most of my reels have Dacron on at the moment.  I have used gel spun in the past, but it's so thin it's overkill in terms of creating extra capacity on my reels and Dacron seems to be the choice of those looking for backing that can withstand the salt.  20lb for bonefish reels and 30lb for Permit and Tarpon.  When fishing for these species you're certain to see plenty of backing with every fish caught, so pretty colours are a bonus!

The left overs are what I put on my trout reels.  Haven't used gel spun for spinning reels, but that's because my 20 year old nylon is still up to the job and is rarely used anyway.  Might give it a go when the nylon eventually gives up the ghost... if it does!  :?
