Browsing as you do (more accurately being dragged around) at B&Q in Dundee, I discovered an interesting item in the Christmas section.

They are selling bags of 'Lametta' in various colours (black, silver, green, gold & red). This is strips of shiny plastic, about 22inches long and about 1/8 inch wide. Haven't counted exactly but there must be 100 strips per bag.

This makes a great  body where you would use a tinsel, and each bag is only 99p.

Worth checking out.

Thanks ptinid, I'll check out Lametta.

A source of free dubbing material is the fluff filter on a tumbledryer. I have loads of nondescript brown- grey fluff that I bag. For spiky stuff like for DHE thoraxes, I chop up scrap deer hair and bucktail etc. and mix it in using a hand blender.
