About 30 years ago I was given a series of typed pages detailing Clyde style flies.  The list also included some simple dyeing instructions and various comments.  The flies are listed (roughly) by month.  It was prepared around 1950 by an old fisher and fly tyer from Larbert who died in the 1970s.  I never met him.  I've scanned and posted a couple of the pages.

The pages contain nothing new but may be of historical interest.  I'm having a clear out and rather than dump them they're on offer to anyone who wants them.

If more than one of you want them post your reasons.  The most convincing, in my opinion, can have them.

P.A. John gray has just posted up on the other forum that he has a list of clyde style flies on his website. He seems to have an interest in them as well.

Digitise them and make a .pdf, get Fred to host it on here as a .pdf download and they will be there for anyone to download and print off. I could host it on my site too and I am sure Highlander might be interested.

I've got a very similar list, looks about the same vintage, mine shows the favoured flies for each month on the Clyde and the dressings. Can't remember where I got it, possibly from one of the old stalwarts when I was a member of Pumpherston Angling Club in the early 80s.

I could pick them up from you at the clubhouse in two weeks time when I collect my permit if you like, that would save them going missing in the post :) You can get 5 free .pdf conversions online through Adobe here. https://acrobat.com/#page=signup_only&su=1    I have used it and it works fine.

No problem, Bob. I reckon it will be Sunday 28th about 11am if that suits. I'll let you know for certain nearer the time.

Very interesting, very similar to lists I have at the moment. All from late 70s to early 80s. May even be from the same pen. I would certainly be interested in a download if Fishtales has the will to do it.

The PDF should be downloadable from the link attached to this post.

Addendum

DW is assumed to mean that the wing is dressed lying back along the body of the fly

None of the wet flies or night flies has a tail.

There are a few spelling mistakes and wrongly named flies.

"Shearny" is "the colour of coo shite fresh from the erse" according to PA :) A very light brown with a hint of green.

Thanks for that Sandy, most useful. I have some of these pages already but some I do not have so they will be a welcome addition to my library of Clyde Flees.

There is a half decent book called Anglers Book of the Clyde. It's got a massive selection of patterns that date back a fair way, with dressings for all and photos for a lot of them. Although many are not flies I'd fish on the Clyde, its interesting to see the kind of things that has been used.

In addition to the dressings, they go into a little more detail regarding entemology and seasonal usage. A good read and handy reference point.
